Explosion-proof Gabions
Rapid-deploy cellular gabion barrier for emergency flood defence and riverbank protection, filled on site with sand or soil.

Description
Rapid-deploy cellular gabion barrier for emergency flood defence and riverbank protection, filled on site with sand or soil.
The Flood Defense Barrier Gabion is a collapsible cellular unit designed to build protective walls against rising water far faster than traditional sandbagging. Delivered flat and folded, each barrier expands on site and is filled with sand, soil or gravel to form a stable, water-retaining mass. The geotextile liner holds fine fill in place and limits seepage, making it an effective rapid solution for flood emergencies, levee breaches and temporary diversion works.
Compared with sandbag walls, a filled cellular barrier of equivalent length is built in a fraction of the time with far fewer people. The welded-mesh cage keeps its shape under hydraulic load, while zinc-aluminium coating resists corrosion during prolonged wet service. Advantages include very fast deployment, low transport volume when folded, reusability, and a stable footprint that resists scour and undermining when properly bedded.
Units are built from welded steel wire of 3.0–4.0 mm diameter on a 76 x 76 mm grid, with standard cell heights of 0.6 m and 1.0 m. For flood service we recommend galvanized or Galfan coating to withstand repeated wetting. Each barrier is supplied with its geotextile liner and joining components; cells link end to end to form continuous flood walls and can be doubled in depth for higher heads of water.
Typical uses include municipal flood defence, levee and embankment repair, emergency riverbank protection, construction-site dewatering bunds and the protection of substations, pumping stations and warehouses in flood-prone areas. Disaster-response agencies and contractors keep folded stocks on hand for rapid mobilisation, while the same units serve as temporary cofferdams for in-river works.
Zhongman manufactures the complete barrier in-house, from coated wire to welded cells and geotextile lining, ensuring consistent quality and reliable lead times. We package units for efficient container shipping and advise on coating, cell height and quantity based on the design flood level.
