The Gabion Stone Retaining Wall is a complete gravity wall system built from stone-filled wire mesh baskets that work together to retain soil, control erosion and stabilize slopes. The wall is assembled from box-shaped gabion units, produced in double-twisted hexagonal mesh or rigid welded mesh, which are stacked, connected and filled with natural stone or project-specified aggregate. The combined weight of the filled baskets creates a self-stable gravity structure that resists earth pressure, while the permeable stone fill allows water to drain freely and relieves hydrostatic load behind the wall. Wire is protected with galvanized or PVC coating for long-term corrosion resistance in wet and aggressive ground. Unlike rigid concrete walls, the gabion system flexes with ground settlement without cracking and requires no formwork or curing.
