Product Introduction
The PVC-Coated Gabion Basket is a box-shaped container of double-twisted hexagonal woven steel wire mesh, protected first with a zinc coating and then with a tough PVC outer layer. Assembled into walls and filled on site with rock, the baskets create flexible, permeable gravity structures. The PVC jacket adds a strong barrier against corrosion, abrasion and UV, making these baskets ideal for marine, industrial and polluted-water environments where bare galvanized wire would have a shorter life.

PVC over zinc provides two coordinated lines of defence, extending service life well beyond galvanized-only product in salt water, acidic soils and polluted runoff. The double-twisted mesh resists unravelling, and the basket's flexibility accommodates settlement without cracking. The open rock fill drains freely, relieving water pressure behind walls. Baskets ship flat and folded for low freight cost and assemble quickly with lacing wire or fasteners.
Specifications & Options
Baskets use 8 x 10 double-twisted mesh with a 2.2 mm internal wire and 2.7 mm selvedge wire, each carrying a galvanized base and a PVC layer of at least 0.4 mm per side; standard PVC colours are grey and green. Common sizes are 2x1x1 m, 2x1x0.5 m and 3x1x1 m with internal diaphragms every metre, and bespoke dimensions are available. Coating class and wire gauge can be upgraded for severe exposure.
Applications & Industries
Used for retaining and gravity walls, riverbank and coastal protection, canal and reservoir linings, bridge protection and architectural facades. The PVC option is preferred for sea defences, harbours, mine drainage, chemical plants and any site with aggressive water or soil chemistry.
