Product Introduction
A Reno-type Gabion Mattress is a thin, mattress-shaped container made from double-twisted hexagonal woven steel wire mesh and divided internally by diaphragms. Filled with hard, angular rock 70–150 mm in size, it forms a flexible, permeable revetment that armours riverbeds, banks and channels against the erosive force of flowing water. Its low thickness relative to its plan area lets it follow ground contours and settle without losing structural integrity.
Key Features & Advantages
The double-twisted mesh will not unravel if a wire is cut, and its flexibility allows the mattress to deform with scour and settlement while remaining intact. The structure is fully permeable, relieving uplift and pore pressure, and it encourages siltation and vegetation for a natural finish. Internal diaphragms keep the stone evenly distributed, and heavy galvanized, Galfan or PVC coatings deliver long life in abrasive and aggressive water.
Specifications & Options
Mattresses are produced in the standard 6 m x 2 m plan size with thicknesses of 0.17 m, 0.23 m and 0.30 m, with diaphragms every metre. Mesh is double-twisted 8 x 10 (80 x 100 mm) with 2.7 mm mesh wire and 3.4 mm selvedge wire; PVC or Galfan coatings increase the nominal wire diameter for added durability. Custom sizes and coating classes are available to suit design flow velocity and water chemistry.
