Description
Roll-formed steel plank grating with dimpled or perforated serrated top and integral side channels that interlock plank-to-plank. Debris-shedding decking 9" to 12" wide in galvanized steel, aluminum or stainless. For catwalks and platforms.
Steel plank grating differs from bar grating in that it is roll-formed from a single sheet rather than assembled from bearing bars and cross rods. Each plank is shaped into a channel with a flat or contoured top walking surface and downturned, interlocking side legs that nest into adjacent planks. The top is punched with raised dimples, lances or perforations that both grip footwear and let water, snow and small debris fall through. Plank grating is light, quick to install and self-supporting over moderate spans, making it popular for catwalks, mezzanines and access platforms. Available in galvanized steel, aluminum and stainless, it offers a continuous, snag-free deck with no protruding bar ends and a clean, finished appearance from above and below.
Planks are roll-formed from steel, aluminum or stainless sheet into a stiff channel section typically 1" to 2-1/2" deep, in 9" or 12" widths and lengths up to 240". The formed side legs interlock with neighboring planks and rest on supports, spreading load and creating a flush, gap-free floor. The walking surface is punched with raised dimples or perforations during forming, giving an integral serrated, anti-slip grip without a separate process. Carbon-steel planks are hot-dip galvanized for outdoor durability; aluminum cuts weight further; stainless handles corrosive and hygienic duty. Because each plank is a complete decking unit, installation is fast, and planks can be screwed or clipped to bar joists, angles or channels. The closed-channel form also resists deflection efficiently for its low weight.
Plank grating provides strong stiffness for its weight thanks to the roll-formed channel section, with load and span tables published by plank depth and support spacing. The dimpled or perforated top delivers built-in slip resistance that meets workplace safety needs, and perforations keep open area sufficient to shed water, snow, mud and debris so the surface stays clean and drainable. Galvanizing protects carbon-steel planks against outdoor corrosion, while aluminum and stainless meet marine, chemical and hygiene standards. Because the deck has no open bar ends, it is safer underfoot and easier to clean than some bar grating. Planks can be supplied as flooring sheets or fabricated into stair treads with nosings, and selection by load table ensures the right plank for pedestrian, snow-load or light equipment traffic.
Steel plank grating is widely used for catwalks, elevated walkways, mezzanine floors, work platforms and access decks where light weight and fast installation matter. The integral grip and debris-shedding surface make it excellent for snow- and ice-prone outdoor platforms, fire escapes and rooftop walkways. Its closed-channel form and grip top suit stair treads, ship and offshore decks, conveyor walkways and tower platforms. Galvanized planks serve general industrial and outdoor settings, aluminum planks suit marine and removable applications, and stainless planks fit food, chemical and washdown areas. Because planks interlock into a continuous, snag-free surface, they are also chosen for areas with heavy foot traffic and frequent cleaning, providing a safe, durable, low-maintenance deck across mezzanines, walkways and stair systems.
Zhongman roll-forms steel plank grating in galvanized steel, aluminum and stainless, in standard 9" and 12" widths and depths matched to your span and load needs. We supply dimpled or perforated grip tops, cut planks to length, and fabricate matching stair treads with nosings and end closures for complete platform and stair packages. Each plank is checked for profile, grip-pattern formation and dimension before galvanizing and crating, and we provide plank load tables, galvanizing certificates and material certificates for your records. The interlocking design speeds field installation and the light weight lowers freight on export orders. With strong roll-forming capacity and broad grating experience, Zhongman delivers safe, lightweight, debris-shedding plank decking at competitive factory pricing with dependable lead times and full technical support.
