Description
Heavy-gauge welded reinforcing mesh for concrete slabs, foundations, pavements and precast units. Ribbed or plain bars 3-6mm, square or rectangular grids, flat sheets or rolls. Controls cracking and speeds placement versus tied rebar.
Concrete reinforcing welded mesh is a prefabricated grid of steel bars that are resistance-welded at every single crossing to create one rigid, self-supporting sheet that strengthens concrete and actively controls cracking. By replacing slow hand-tied rebar with ready-made panels, it dramatically cuts labour time on slabs, screeds, foundations and pavements, while ensuring accurate and entirely consistent bar spacing throughout the whole pour. We supply both flat sheets for general construction work and rolled light mesh for screeds and renders. The bars themselves range from 3 to 6mm diameter in either plain or ribbed profile, arranged in square or rectangular grid patterns, so the reinforcement can always be matched precisely to the structural design and to the reinforcement schedule prepared by the project engineer.
Welded reinforcing mesh works by spreading tensile and shrinkage stresses evenly across the whole concrete section, so that any micro-cracks stay tight and the applied load is shared uniformly rather than concentrating at weak points. The welded intersections rigidly lock the bars together, preventing the displacement that can so easily occur with loosely tied cages and guaranteeing that the design cover and spacing are properly maintained right through the pour. Ribbed bar profiles further increase the mechanical bond with the surrounding concrete for higher pull-out resistance under load. The end result is a slab or structural element that reliably resists settlement cracking, carries heavier service loads and performs predictably over its entire design life, all delivered from a single, easily placed drop-in reinforcement layer.
This mesh is a genuine staple of ground-bearing floor slabs, driveways, footpaths, industrial hardstandings and road pavements, where large flat areas benefit most from prefabricated reinforcement that goes down fast. It reinforces raft and strip foundations, retaining walls and basement floors, and it is very widely used in precast concrete panels, pipes, culverts and paving blocks that are produced under controlled factory conditions. The lighter rolled grades suit floor screeds, plaster backing and thin bonded toppings particularly well. Across every one of these uses, the consistent welded grid and the rapid one-piece placement help contractors hit demanding programme dates while still fully meeting the structural engineer's reinforcement schedule, giving real confidence on both quality and pour-day speed across the whole job.
We weld grids with bar diameters from 3 to 6mm as standard, with heavier bars readily available on request for more demanding structures, and with grid openings from 50 up to 200mm in either square or rectangular patterns. Standard sheet sizes follow the common construction formats used internationally, but we are equally happy to cut panels to your specified length and width and to add bar overhang for proper lapping between sheets. Available finishes include plain steel for normal concrete, galvanized for exposed or aggressive conditions and epoxy coating for corrosion-critical structures. We supply directly to your reinforcement schedule and can mark, bundle and label individual sheets by their location on site, which streamlines both delivery handling and final placement on busy, fast-moving sites.
Gabion Works produces reinforcing mesh on automated welding lines that deliver dependable, repeatable weld shear strength and accurate bar pitch from one sheet to the next, sheet after sheet. We source our steel to recognised international grades and can provide full test certificates covering tensile strength and weld performance for inclusion in your project records and quality file. Our production capacity comfortably handles both large-volume slab orders and smaller, more specialist runs without compromising on consistency, and we bundle and clearly label every panel for easy site handling. With sturdy, well-secured export packing and a long track record of reliable, on-time international delivery, we make a thoroughly practical sourcing partner for contractors, precast manufacturers and builders' merchants alike.
