The Gabion Rocket Basket is a stone-filled containment unit assembled from durable wire mesh panels to form stable retaining and protection structures. Each basket is fabricated from heavily coated steel wire, available in either double-twisted hexagonal mesh or rigid welded mesh, depending on project requirements. The mesh panels are connected with lacing wire, spiral binders or fastening clips to create a strong box-shaped cage that is then filled on site with hard, angular rock. The resulting gabion basket behaves as a monolithic yet permeable mass, allowing water to pass through while holding the fill stone firmly in place. Wire is protected with galvanized, Galfan or PVC coating to resist corrosion in wet and aggressive environments.

Mesh wire diameter is generally available in the 2.0-4.0 mm range, while reinforced selvedge and edge wires are commonly one gauge heavier for added strength. Hexagonal mesh openings are typically offered in 60×80, 80×100 and 100×120 mm, and welded mesh openings can be supplied in square or rectangular patterns as required. Standard coating options include heavy galvanizing, Galfan (zinc-aluminium alloy) and an additional PVC or PE polymer layer for enhanced corrosion resistance in harsh environments. Basket dimensions, panel thickness, diaphragm spacing and color of the PVC coating are all available options and can be customized.
