Description
Custom image-perforated architectural panels that turn photographs, patterns or branding into durable metal facades, screens and feature walls using variable hole sizes and CNC perforation.
Decorative architectural perforated panels move beyond uniform patterns into bespoke design. Using image-to-perforation software and CNC punching, Zhongman varies the size and spacing of thousands of holes across a single panel so that, viewed from a distance, the perforation resolves into a photograph, a gradient, a corporate logo or an abstract artwork. Up close the panel reads as a sophisticated metal screen; from across the street it becomes a recognizable image. Panels are typically aluminum or weathering steel for outdoor durability, finished in architectural PVDF or left to develop a natural Corten patina. This product is sold as a finished design service, not a stock catalogue item: customers supply artwork or a brief, and we engineer it into manufacturable metal.
The headline feature is design freedom: any image with sufficient contrast can be translated into perforation, allowing architects to give a building a unique identity that flat cladding cannot. Variable open area also lets a single facade manage solar gain intelligently, perforating more openly where daylight is wanted and densely where shading or privacy is needed. Despite the artistic result, these are engineered building products, designed for wind load, fixing systems and thermal movement. PVDF and anodized finishes carry long outdoor warranties, and weathering steel offers a maintenance-free patina. Because each panel is digitally driven, repeat panels and replacement units are perfectly reproducible from the original file, protecting the design over the building's life.
Hole diameters typically graduate from 1 mm up to 20 mm within a single panel to render tonal range, with overall open area customized to balance the image against solar and privacy requirements. Materials include 1.5-4 mm aluminum for general facades, weathering (Corten) steel for a rusted-patina aesthetic, stainless 304 for coastal projects, and zinc or copper for premium work. Panels are CNC cut to exact shapes with integrated fixing returns, bolt slots or cassette edges to suit rainscreen systems. Finishes cover the full RAL and PVDF range, anodizing, and natural patinas. We provide perforation proofs and rendered previews so the client can approve the visual effect before production begins, and we coordinate panel sizing with the facade grid.
These panels are commissioned for landmark and identity-driven projects: museum and gallery facades, university buildings, corporate headquarters, transit stations, car park screens and public art installations. Retail and hospitality clients use them for branded storefronts and feature walls where the logo or motif is literally built into the metal. Local authorities use image panels to commemorate a place's history on bridges and civic buildings. Interior designers apply smaller decorative panels as backlit feature walls, reception backdrops and ceiling features. Anywhere a building wants to communicate a message, an image or a sense of craft through its envelope, image-perforated metal delivers it durably and at architectural scale.
Zhongman offers end-to-end delivery of decorative perforation: from receiving your artwork or photograph, through image processing, perforation-density mapping, rendered approval proofs, CNC manufacturing, architectural finishing and crated shipping. Our engineers understand both the art and the building physics, so the panel that looks right on screen also performs against wind load and fixes cleanly into your facade system. We hold facade-grade flatness and finish standards and color-match to project specifications. Because the design lives as a digital file, we guarantee reproducible replacement panels for years to come. Architects value working with a single supplier who can take a creative idea and return install-ready, warrantied metal panels for international projects.
